Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Evexia Diagnostics™?

Evexia is the first platform to consolidate lab orders efficiently, having helped thousands of health professionals build and streamline their practices since 2007. Practitioners have access to 20+ CLIA-certified laboratories, all on one platform. Evexia has an impressive menu of 6,000+ functional lab testing, including bloodwork, GI testing, metabolic typing, hormone testing, and more, all at discounted pricing for your clients.

How do FNTPs/NTPs have access to functional lab testing through Evexia?

With Evexia’s Internal Physicians' Network, qualified physicians allow access to lab ordering for non-licensed practitioners or those whose credentials don't typically bestow lab ordering privileges. Their credentialed physicians review and approve the orders in real time so that these practitioners can enjoy the same access as their licensed colleagues.

Is it within the scope of an FNTP/NTP to order lab testing for their clients?

"Ordering" laboratory testing is out of scope for FNTPs and NTPs. However, with Evexia's Internal Physicians’ Network process, you can suggest functional testing for your clients to order for themselves. The best practice is to have your clients pay for the testing directly via EvexiaDirect, which allows your clients to order functional lab testing at discounted prices. As the practitioner, you can send a client a link to order the labs they are interested in via EvexiaDirect.

How does EvexiaDirect lab testing work?

With EvexiaDirect, your clients can order functional lab testing via Evexia Internal Physicians' Network. An Evexia physician will review and approve the order for your client and provide them with a lab requisition. The lab requisition can be used at any LabCorp location in the US. Once the lab results are ready, you and your client will receive a copy of the results.

How can I best communicate with my clients about functional lab testing?

It is strongly advised to take an advanced training program on the topic (see some options listed below). You can also utilize Evexia's Functional Health Report to help you educate your client. In the Functional Health Report ™, you and your client receive detailed explanations of their results.

These reports help you as the practitioner walk your client step-by-step through their report, providing them invaluable information on optimizing their health. The Functional Health Report ™ also increases client compliance by helping educate clients to understand their test results, allowing them to truly "own" their journey to enhanced health.

Which states allow functional lab testing?

New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island have laws that forbid direct-to-consumer lab testing. All other US states allow direct-to-consumer testing.

How can I best utilize functional lab testing in their practice?

As an FNTP/NTP, you are not trained to provide medical nutrition therapy. An FNTP/NTP may not diagnose, treat, prevent, prescribe, or cure any pathological condition, illness, or disease. No recommendation or comment should be construed as medical advice or a diagnosis. As an FNTP/NTP, you should never use the terms order or prescribing when discussing lab testing. When educating your client on their functional lab test, you cannot use the results to diagnose conditions, illnesses, or diseases or create a treatment plan.

As an FNTP/NTP, you are not trained to interpret lab results and should never use the terms "interpret" or "analyze" when speaking to clients about lab testing. You can educate, inform, support, and guide clients with their functional lab results to optimize their health. You are trained to recommend dietary changes, lifestyle choices, and nutritional supplementation, and functional lab results is one of the functional tools, with advanced training, in which you can utilize to help you create your recommendations.

What do I do if I have questions regarding a specific lab or client report?

Evexia has a “Ask a Doctor” feature (available with the Evexia Complete account option) where their Director of Clinical Support and Education, will review test results, clinical conditions, and further test recommendations or answer any other questions you may have via email.

In addition, our clients have the option of scheduling either a telephone or video conference for a fee. Also, the Functional Health Report will be able to help you educate and inform your client on their test and how you can work together to optimize their health.

Is Evexia available outside of the US?

Yes, Evexia is also available to Canadian practitioners and clients. If you are an international practitioner,
we are sharing this information so you can stay current on industry trends and have some information that may help you explore similar services in your local community.

Should I follow HIPAA compliance when dealing with clients' health data?

NTA Practitioners should comply with relevant HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) guidelines, especially when dealing with functional lab testing results. We strongly recommend using a HIPAA-compliant email system or platform to share and communicate your client's lab results.

If you do not utilize a HIPAA-compliant email or platform for your client's data, the best practice would be to de-identify the documents by removing their name and all personal information if you are storing this information on your computer.
